Trade Marketing Manager (On & Off Trade)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the dynamic marketing team for a prestigious wine agency in London. They are looking for a Trade Marketing Manager to be our On-Trade and Off-Trade channel marketing expert. This is a unique position at a leading wine distributor, instrumental in creating alignment between our brand strategies and commercial challenges. Their portfolio is one of the most respected around and they have a strong customer base across the On and Off Trade.

Detailed information on this role

  • The successful candidate will have a great understanding of the trends and key challenges affecting the wine category in each sector. Based on relevant insights, the Trade Marketing Manager will manage channel marketing and key customer marketing, focusing on the development and delivery of inspiring, value-adding and effective activations and promotions on our wine brands.
  • The Trade Marketing Manager will also be working on corporate marketing initiatives to strengthen our position  as a premium wine supplier, such as trade events and customer communication.
  • The Trade Marketing Manager reports into the Head of Trade Marketing and works closely with the Brand Management team and Sales team.

 

Prime Responsibilities

  • Manage channel marketing and key account marketing:
  • Channel marketing for the Independent On-Trade and Off-Trade sales channels.
  • Key account marketing for a selection of customers in the National On-Trade and Off-Trade channels.
  • Develop annual trade marketing plans based on relevant channel and category insights.
  • Drive sales and gross profit of our key agency wines: Work with the Brand Management team to create trade marketing activity that aligns channel to brand strategies, ensuring that the key brand messages are effectively & clearly delivered to the customer on time and within budget.
  • Work with the Sales Team to develop inspirational customer marketing activity, that is designed to either win new points of distribution or drive rate of sale.
  • Work with the National Sales Team on new customer pitches.
  • Manage the marketing and promotions on our online order portal for trade customers.
  • Oversee the management of Point of Sales materials in terms of availability, visibility, order process and return on investment.
  • Manage the planning, creative development and content writing of trade customer email communication using Mailchimp.
  • Work on the marketing aspect of trade events, such as the Annual Portfolio Tasting.

 

 Experience, Skills & Attributes

  • Must have previous trade marketing or brand management experience, preferably within the drinks industry, FMCG industry or luxury industry.
  • Must be able to work independently on your own initiative, with a can-do attitude.
  • Commercially minded with a solid numerical understanding, applicable to business challenges.
  • Demonstrable creative flair, ability to inspire others.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Must be highly computer literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Digital marketing skills, especially knowledge of e-commerce and Mailchimp, are desirable.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet key deadlines.
  • Keen attention to detail and solid organisational skills.
  • The applicant should have a genuine interest in wine. A WSET Level 2 qualification would be desirable.
