UK Wine Hiring Trends: Customer Services

Generally salary levels in Customer Services roles are low with a small discretionary bonus. Many people will move into supply chain or operations roles after gaining some experience in an entry level customer services role.
This role is a customer-facing role and your time will be spent mainly addressing queries and fixing complaints from customers. This will require building good networks within your company as you will need to liaise with sales, logistics, operations and finance regularly.
There is high turnover in Customer Services roles and most people use these roles as a way to get into the wine sector. Candidates tend to join these teams with diverse experience that does not need to be from wine or drinks. Company WSET support is often available and a lovely benefit for those who are keen to get into the wine industry and to gain knowledge and experience.
For an experienced Customer Services Manager responsibilities can be varied including regular reporting to senior management, some ecommerce responsibilities and some operations support. Salaries at this level are still fairly low compared to those in other areas.
