Business Development Role – Cash & Carry/ Impulse (Branded Wine & Drinks Business)

Detailed information on this role

Key Tasks:

• Build strong multi-level relationships with:
• Create and execute a new business development plan by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline
• Conduct market research to stay up to date on industry trends, competitors, and customer needs.
• Create business cases, commercial proposals, pitches and presentations to secure new business.
• Build strong multi-level relationships with:
• buying, supply chain, planning and merchandising teams in customer accounts.
• Data and insights, brand management, operations, customer service, finance and sales.
• Develop and agree joint business plans with customers, drive NPD and monitor sales and margin performance on an on-going basis.
• Resolve issues, maximise product range and ensure first class customer service.
• Actively participate in internal NPD discussions, helping to bring new products to market.
• Attend weekly S&OP meetings, helping to ensure that:
customer forecasts are updated and as accurate as possible.
• Major sales and brand marketing activity is discussed and well planned.
• Identified problems are resolved with agreed actions clearly communicated and completed on time.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales role in cash and carry, travel or national on trade.
  • Proven success in building new business over a sustained period
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical with a high level of numeracy
  • Good understanding of the UK wine market (ideally)
  • Experience of cross functional working (internal & external)
  • Application of consumer wine insights and trends to help maximise sales opportunities
  • The ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, manage change and to work to tight deadlines
  • Ambitious, success driven individual who is motivated by achieving outstanding results
  • Flexible, responsive and a team player
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid Drivers Licence

 

Regular travel required: In market: travel to the office, customer meetings, wine tastings and company events. This is a field sales-based role, so extensive travel will be required
