London on-trade sales manager, wine & champagne

Our client is looking to add an experienced London on-trade sales manager to their small, close-knit team based in Clapham, London.

This UK company has been successfully working in the UK wine sector for 35 years and is part of a large, well-capitalised French producer.  Their boutique wineries in Champagne, Bordeaux, and California enjoy global acclaim.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • As our London Sales Manager you will manage a portfolio of key on-trade customers including restaurants, hotels, private members clubs and independent wine shops. The current account base, that you will inherit, delivers c.400k in sales. You will be expected to both manage that existing business and generate new leads and help to grow that number.
  • Conducting product presentations and wine tastings to drive sales and for training purposes within our client’s establishments
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships and providing exemplary customer service and support
  • Identifying and pursuing potential clients to develop new business is a key part of this role
  • Executing the sales plans to achieve monthly and annual targets
  • Working with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns and wine tasting events.
  • Being well organised and maintain detailed records of sales activities and client interactions using CRM software.

Key Attributes:

  • Organisational Skills: with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Communication: You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear, professional interactions.
  • Wine Empathy: Strong knowledge pf premium wines across many regions will be essential. Having WSET (or similar) qualifications will be important.
  • Self-Motivation: Your approach will be a proactive one. You should consistently be achieving new goals across your account base by taking your own initiative, with the support of the team behind you.
